English Championship side Watford have emerged as a potential escape route for out-of-form Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho, who has struggled to make an impact at Spanish La Liga club Sevilla.

The former Leicester City forward joined Sevilla on a two-year deal as a free agent in the summer after his contract expired at Leicester, but he has failed to meet expectations, going nine La Liga matches without a goal or assist.

According to fichajes.net, Sevilla is reportedly set to offload Iheanacho during the January transfer window as part of a squad reshuffle aimed at strengthening their team for the second half of the 2025 season.

Watford are interested in signing the Nigerian striker, hoping to bolster their attacking options as they aim for promotion to the Premier League. Sevilla is also keen on facilitating a deal to free up space in their squad.

Additionally, La Liga club Las Palmas are reportedly monitoring Iheanacho’s situation. However, no concrete negotiations have taken place, and it remains unclear if the 28-year-old is inclined to remain in Spain after his struggles.

While Iheanacho’s La Liga campaign has been disappointing, he has shone in the Copa del Rey, scoring three goals in two matches, demonstrating glimpses of his ability on the field.
