The Super Eagles B demolished non-league side, G12 by five goals to one in their third friendly match since resuming camp at the Remo Stars Sports Facility in Ikenne. The friendly served as an opportunity for players to secure their spot in the final squad list as the team gears up for the challenge of facing long-standing rivals, Ghana, in the CHAN Qualifiers.
Several changes were made to the side that defeated Emmydinho FC as the starting lineup included home-based superstars such as Ani Ozoemena, Waliu Ojetoye, Nelson Abiam, Victor Collins, Taiwo Abdulrafiu, Sani Aminu, Ikechukwu Mgbemena, Meyiwa Orisemeyinwa, Umar Al-Amin, Sunday Megwo, and Anas Yusuf.
The Super Eagles B exploded out of the blocks, netting an early goal courtesy of Umar Al-Amin’s strike seconds after kick-off. Nelson Abiam doubled the lead not long after before Waliu Ojetoye assisted Umar Al-Amin to score his brace and the team’s third goal.
Six minutes after half-time, Sunday Megwo extended the lead for the Super Eagles B before netting another goal in the 74th minute to seal back-to-back high scoring wins for the team.
The Super Eagles B will continue their preparation in anticipation of their visit to the 40,000 capacity Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 22nd December, before hosting the Black Galaxies at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday, 28th December.
