With the CHAN qualifiers just around the corner, the Super Eagles B sent a resounding statement of intent with a dominant 5-0 victory in their second friendly match against Nationwide League One opponents, Emmydinho Football Club at the Remo Stars Sports Facility in Ikenne.

The Super Eagles B team had won their first friendly game on Sunday against Grassrunners FC in a 1-0 victory courtesy of a penalty by Papa Daniel. However, this win highlights the progress of the squad and their readiness for the double-header clash against long-standing rivals, Ghana.

Remo Stars forward, Sikiru Alimi opened the scoring in the 19th minute as he skipped past the goalkeeper to slot the ball into the open net. He extended the lead for Super Eagles B three minutes later as he converted Samuel Ayanrinde’s low cross into the back of the net. Ayanrinde then scored his goal just two minutes after his assist to increase the score line to 3-0.

The Shooting Stars forward was in action once again just before half-time, as he assisted Sikiru Alimi to score his second goal and Super Eagles’ B fourth goal of the evening. The entire team was rotated at half-time as the coaches sought to prevent injuries and give ample opportunities for others to prove themselves which prompted a quiet, controlled second half until Vincent Temitope’s goal sealed the win in the 5th minute of added time.

The Super Eagles B will continue their preparation in anticipation of their visit to the 40,000 capacity Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 22nd December, before hosting the Black Galaxies at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday, 28th December.
