As the Super Eagles B enter the final stages of preparation ahead of a double-header against Ghana, the team defeated Grassrunners FC 1-0 in their first friendly game since resuming camp on Wednesday.

The game was played in the early hours of Sunday and the starting XI included home-based superstars such as Kayode Bankole, Taiwo Abdulrafiu, Victor Collins, Junior Nduka, Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, Ismail Sadiq, Musa Zayyad, Jide Fatokun, Rabiu Ali, Sikiru Alimi, and Emmanuel Ogbole.

The game was tied for a long period as the Super Eagles struggled to convert the chances they created, however, the deadlock was eventually broken by substitute, Papa Daniel courtesy of a penalty.

While they failed to win by a convincing score line, the result is one that would give the team much-needed confidence as the preparation for the Qualifiers continue.

The focus of the team will now shift to fine-tuning tactics, building momentum, and getting players match-ready.

Nigeria will take on Ghana in the 40,000 capacity Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 22nd December, with the reverse leg set for the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday, 28th December. The winner over two legs will earn a spot in the African Nations Championship.
