Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has returned to training and is set to be in the starting line-up for Chippa United in their Betway Premiership fixture against Marumo Gallants FC at the Buffalo City Stadium on Saturday.

Nwabali had been granted a lengthy bereavement leave by the club following the tragic demise of his mother, which was announced on January 2nd, 2025, a few months after the passing of his father.

The Nigeria international was supposed to miss the match between the Chilli Boys and Royal AM on January 11th. Still, the game was postponed by the league organizers, leaving Chippa United fuming due to the short notice received.

Nwabali returned to training on Thursday with his teammates after being away for two weeks on leave. In a video posted on his Instagram story, the Super Eagles shot-stopper said he was happy to be back but also shared that things have been tough since his mother’s passing.

“Hi guys, it’s really nice to be back in training after all the stress and everything. It’s tough though, but we keep pushing,” Nwabali said in the video.

Nwabali has been a key player for Chippa United since joining the club. He has made 12 appearances for the Chilli Boys in all competitions this season and is leading their charge to avoid relegation at the end of the season.
