Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar marked his Valencia debut with a winning start, coming off the bench in a 2-0 Copa Del Rey victory over Eldense that sent his team into the Round of 16.

Sadiq Umar, who recently joined Valencia on loan, started from the bench as head coach Carlos Corberan rang in four changes following the team’s narrow loss to Real Madrid in the La Liga.

Valencia burst out of the gates, taking a 1-0 lead through Sergi Canos’ 9th-minute goal, and doubling their advantage just before halftime courtesy of Diego Lopez.

With Valencia cruising towards a win, Carlos Corberan made a triple substitution in the 58th minute, introducing Sadiq Umar, Enzo Barrenechea, and Aldre Almeida in place of Javier Guerra, Hugo Duro, and Hugo Guillamon.

Although Sadiq Umar didn’t find the net, he showcased his potential by seamlessly integrating into Valencia’s attack. Despite some minor lapses, including a couple of offside calls, Umar’s tireless work ethic shone through as he won duels and worked on and off the ball for the team, helping to secure a crucial first win for new head coach Carlos Corberan.

Valencia will now await their next opponent in the Copa del Rey Round of 16. Meanwhile, they’ll shift focus to their upcoming La Liga clash against Sevilla at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, aiming to build momentum from this victory.
