Premier league club Tottenham Hotspur, were interested in signing Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze in the January transfer window according to football correspondent Jack Pitt-Brooke.
Tottenham’s pursuit of Chukwueze stemmed from a desire to bolster their attacking options, particularly amidst an injury crisis, and inject fresh momentum into their second half of their season, after a disappointing first half, specifically in the Premier League.
Despite securing automatic qualification for the Europa League Round of 16 and enjoying recent cup successes against Liverpool and Tamworth, Tottenham’s Premier League season has been marred by struggles, with their campaign bordering on disaster.
Tottenham’s dismal league form left them languishing in 14th place with 27 points from 24 games, a mere 10 points above the relegation zone, sparking discontent among fans and highlighting the urgent need for reinforcements during the January transfer window.
According to Jack Pitt-Brooke: “ This was the highest-pressure winter window Tottenham have had for years, with Daniel Levy and the board under more scrutiny than ever from a highly-frustrated fanbase.”
Nonetheless, the high-profile acquisition of Mathys Tel alleviated fan concerns, albeit momentarily, and ultimately closed the door on potential signings of wingers Samuel Chukwueze and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, who had also been on Tottenham’s radar.
However, Tottenham’s interest in Samuel Chukwueze may be revisited in the summer, as the Nigerian winger’s future remains uncertain, with several other clubs also keeping a close eye on his situation at Italian side, AC Milan.

Asides Tottenham, another London club, Fulham also registered their interest for Samuel Chukwueze on deadline day, but ultimately opted for a familiar face, re-signing Willian on a free transfer instead.
With the transfer window now shut, Samuel Chukwueze will concentrate on securing regular playing time at AC Milan, despite the added competition from new arrival Joao Felix, as he aims to establish himself as a key player for the Italian club.
