After his two goals against Kayserispor prior to the break, Victor Osimhen led the line once again, flanked by Yunus Akgun on the left wing and Baris Yilmaz on the right wing.

Undeterred by going behind, Göztepe equalized in the 27th minute as Antony Dennis assisted Romulo Cruz to level the score line following a fast break.

Galatasaray continued to press to regain their lead and they were rewarded in the 61st minute courtesy of Yunus Akgun’s goal before Lucas Torreira thought he had extended the score line with a close range header to the top left corner. However the goal was ruled out by VAR and the score line remained 2-1 in favour of the hosts.

With 10 goals in the league, Osimhen is now the second highest goal scorer, tied with Simon Banza and Mame Baba Thiam and only behind Krzysztof Piatek who has scored 12 goals. He has also now recorded 13 goals in all competitions, as well as four assists, highlighting his massive importance to the team.

With the winter transfer window now open, Galatasaray face the possibility of losing Victor Osimhen who is currently on the list of many European clubs, especially in the Premier League.

However, with the win, Galatasaray remain undefeated in the league after 17 games and they have now recorded 47 points, 11 more than Fenerbahçe who sit second.

The attention of the league leaders will now turn to the Turkish cup as they anticipate the visit of Başakşehir on Wednesday, January 8.
