The Nigerian Football Federation has officially unveiled Eric Chelle as the 37th head coach of the Super Eagles in a ceremony held at the MKO Abiola National Stadium’s media conference room on Monday.

The event provided an opportunity for fans, top officials, and media personnels to meet the new coach and learn about his vision for the team’s future, particularly with a crucial year ahead.

During the event, NFF chairman Ibrahim Gusau expressed his optimism about Chelle’s appointment, citing the coach’s expertise, experience, and tactical prowess as vital assets for the Super Eagles’ success.

According to Gusau, Chelle’s immediate priority will be to supervise the Super Eagles B team as they compete in the African Nations Championship next month, seeking to claim the title.

NSC president Shehu Dikko echoed Gusau’s sentiments, reaffirming the administration’s faith in Chelle’s ability to lead the Super Eagles in achieving their objectives.

Eric Chelle faces the challenge of surpassing the performance of his predecessors, with Finidi George’s tenure being notably brief, lasting only four games, and Jose Peseiro’s stint ending with a runner-up finish at the 2023 AFCON, after which he resigned.

With his appointment, Eric Chelle has etched his name in the records, becoming the first non-Nigerian African to coach the Super Eagles. Nevertheless, he is poised to strive for even greater achievements and create more historic milestones during his tenure as head coach.
