Jordan Nwora exploded for a game-high 24 points, leading Anadolu Efes to a thrilling 99-96 victory over Pinar Karsiyaka in the Turkish Basketbol Super Ligi on Sunday.
The game was a closely contested battle throughout, but Anadolu Efes ultimately prevailed despite a fierce challenge from their opponents.
Beyond his scoring prowess, Nwora showcased his all-around game with a game-high seven rebounds and three assists. Captain Shane Larkin and forward Erkan Yilmaz chipped in with 18 points each, while fellow Nigerian Daniel Oturu contributed 15 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
Nwora has been a revelation since joining Anadolu Efes this season. In his debut year in European basketball, the D’Tigers forward is averaging an impressive 17 points per game in his first nine appearances.
Every player on the Pinar Karsiyaka roster reached double-digit scoring figures. Forward James Webb III led the charge with 24 points. Center Muhsin Yasar contributed 20 points, Erikk McCollum added 18 points, Damien Jefferson chipped in with 16 points, and Kenan Sipahi scored 11 points.
Nwora’s exceptional performance earned him the well-deserved Most Valuable Player award for the game.
Reacting to the win, head coach Tomislav Mijatovic says he is happy the players put in great effort and never gave up.
“I am very happy with the game we played. It is never easy to play against Karşıyaka. Our players did not give up the fight. They converted some difficult shots into points, we converted some difficult shots into points. All our players, especially Erkan Yılmaz, fought very well. We need to continue like this, we got a great victory.”
