Edo Queens, fresh from a resounding 5-0 victory in their season opener, traveled to Owerri to face Heartland Queens, who were reeling from a 1-0 loss to Ekiti Queens in their first game.

Goodness Osigwe, who had already made a mark with a goal on the opening day, continued her stellar form by scoring the opening goal for Edo Queens in the 40th minute, only for Monica Matthew to level the score for Heartland Queens shortly after halftime.

Undeterred by the setback, Goodness Osigwe struck again in the 70th minute, sealing the win for Edo Queens and preserving their perfect record in the season so far.

The victory meant Edo Queens remained at the top of the Group A table with a maximum six points from two games, while Heartland Queens languish at seventh place, having suffered consecutive defeats.

Robo Queens snatch victory at the death

Robo Queens’ resounding 5-1 win over Benue Queens had set the bar high, but the true test of their mettle lay in their ability to overcome stronger teams like Adamawa Queens, who were eager to spoil the party and prove that Robo Queens’ initial success was a one-off.

Adamawa Queens, determined to claim all three points, drew first blood through Tarfa Anastasia’s 24th-minute strike, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime.

However, Robo Queens showcased their resilience, launching a stunning comeback in the second half. Favour Nkwocha’s 70th-minute equalizer set the stage for Opeyemi Ajakaye’s dramatic last-minute winner, securing a thrilling victory for Robo Queens.

The hard-fought win propelled Robo Queens to the top of Group B with a perfect record, having secured back-to-back victories. In contrast, Adamawa Queens sit sixth in the table, with just one point from their opening two matches.

Remo Stars, riding high on their 3-1 triumph over Confluence Queens, saw the south-west derby as an ideal opportunity to make a bold statement to the rest of the league. On the other hand, Ekiti Queens were equally determined to build on their momentum, having defeated Heartland Queens in their opening match.

Remo Stars exuded confidence from the outset, making a fashion statement with their stylish outfits. However, when the whistle blew, signaling the start of the game, Ekiti Queens quickly demonstrated that they would be no pushover.

The first half was a closely contested affair, with both teams creating scoring opportunities, but neither able to find the back of the net. As the teams headed into the locker room at halftime, the scoreline remained deadlocked at 0-0.

The deadlock was finally broken a few minutes after the restart, courtesy of Olamide Bolaji’s second goal of the season. Her strike handed Remo Stars a precious lead, which they managed to preserve for the remainder of the game.

The victory propelled Remo Stars into an exclusive club of teams with a 100% winning record this season. However, they remain second in the standings, behind Edo Queens on goal difference. Meanwhile, Ekiti Queens occupy fourth spot with three points.

Elsewhere in the league, Dannaz Ladies finally got their season off the ground, securing a convincing 2-0 win over Confluence Queens to claim their first victory while Abia Angels, still reeling from their 5-0 thrashing in their previous match, staged an impressive comeback, defeating Nasarawa Amazons 3-0 to get their season back on track.

Benue Queens’ baptism by fire continued as they suffered another defeat, this time at the hands of Delta Queens, who emerged 2-0 victors while Rivers Angels were denied maximum points as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Naija Ratels, a result that will be seen as a setback for the Angels.

The only match of the day that failed to produce any goals was the encounter between Ibom Angels and Bayelsa Queens, as both teams struggled to find the back of the net, ultimately settling for a 0-0 draw.
