“First of all, what made me to come here was my conversation with Mikel. He explained to me how desperate they are and with my situation, I have a lot of hunger in me and I understand Valencia has a lot of hunger also because of the situation the club is,” he said. “What I need and what Valencia need is the same so that is what convinced me,” he added.

Sadiq also displayed his optimism in his new club and teammates by insisting that while Valencia is not in a good position in the league, the hunger displayed by the team will help them return to the position they deserve.

“The situation of Valencia now is not the normal position that they used to be but with the hunger they have recently like we saw yesterday, the team was only unlucky not to go with any point. I am convinced that Valencia will be back to the position they deserve,” the striker confidently said.

“Valencia is one of the most important clubs in Spain and like I said, I see their hunger which is the same as mine and I had no doubt, I just wanted to come.” the 27-year-old admitted.

Sadiq Umar also spoke on his mission and what he would like to achieve for himself in Valencia: “I spoke with the coach, he explained to me what they need and he showed me everyone here is ready to fight and I’m also ready to fight. My mission is to come here and fight for Valencia,” he said.

“Before the injury I was in my best moment and unluckily I got injured but I’m back 100% and fully fit. I need continuity and that’s how I can get the best out of myself,” he added.

The Nigerian striker reflected on his time at Real Sociedad, explaining that he didn’t get the continuity he needed to thrive: “All footballers need continuity and in La Real I didn’t have this continuity which I understand because there are a lot of players, and sometimes the coaches make decisions which I respect. It didn’t work for me there but I’ll keep moving and hope it works for me here. I wish La Real all the best,” he declared.

With the deal completed and officially announced, Sadiq Umar will now get straight to work as he begins to train with his new teammates and adapt to his new environment. He is expected to make his debut in the Copa Del Rey fixture against Eldense as Valencia seek to secure qualification to the next round of the tournament.
