Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has resumed training as he continues his recovery from injury, head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy has confirmed.
Nistelrooy made this known on Friday at the pre-match press conference ahead of their trip to Goodison Park on Saturday to face Everton.
The Dutch manager said Ndidi, who has been sidelined since he was forced out of action in the 52nd minute of their 2-2 draw against Brighton on December 8, has now returned to partial team training, with plans for him to fully rejoin the squad in the coming days.
“Wilf is making good progress,” van Nistelrooy said during his pre-match press conference ahead of Leicester’s trip to Everton on Saturday.
“He’s partially involved in team training. This week we’re looking to bring him back into full team training and over the course of next week.”
The Nigerian international’s return is a major boost for Leicester as they fight to avoid relegation just a season after earning promotion to the top flight. Leicester have lost seven of their eight league games since Ndidi got injured, with their 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend being their only unbeaten game.
The Foxes are 17th in the league table with 17 points, one ahead of Wolves, who occupy the final relegation spot.
