Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, who was instrumental in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s first win in charge as Leicester boss, was forced off the field with an injury in the 52nd minute as The Foxes showed determination to comeback against Brighton in a 2-2 draw at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

Van Nistelrooy made just one change to the side that defeated West Ham as Facundo Buonanotte could not play against his parent club. Wilfred Ndidi and Boubakary Soumare remained in the starting lineup as a double pivot while Bilal El-Khannous started as the attacking midfielder following his first goal for the club in the previous game.

Ndidi was important as usual, completing 96% of his passes and recording one block, two clearances, one headed clearance and two recoveries. However, the Nigerian was substituted in the 52nd minute as he collided with Joao Pedro following a corner from El Khannous.

Jamie Vardy

Brighton who had scored earlier from a ridiculous goal by Tariq Lamptey extended their lead in the 79th minute courtesy of Yankuba Minteh’s first Premier League goal since the beginning of October. Leicester legend, Jamie Vardy then scored in the dying minutes to restore hope for The Foxes.

With Leicester on the brink of defeat, Bobby Reid snatched a point from the jaws of defeat as Vardy received a pass from Mavididi and squared the ball unselfishly for the Jamaican to slot home his first goal for the club. The atmosphere of the stadium was rocking as the home fans pushed their players to complete a turnaround, however, the game ended 2-2.

With Soumare suspended after receiving his 5th yellow card of the season, Leicester will hope that Ndidi’s substitution was a mere precaution rather than a serious injury as they prepare to face Newcastle at St. James Park in their next game.
