Basketball Hall of Famer Magic Johnson has hailed the effort of D’Tigers guard Gabe Vincent, especially in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 117-96 win over arch-rivals, the Boston Celtics.

Gabe Vincent has continued to improve since his move to the Lakers last season. After a slow start to the 2024/25 campaign, coming off a long-term injury that saw him miss almost all of last season’s games, the American-born Nigerian star is gradually getting back to the player the Lakers signed to a three-year contract worth $33 million from the Miami Heat.

the D’Tigers star scored 12 points, four assists, and one rebound in the win over the Celtics, and two days later grabbed seven points and two assists against the Golden State Warriors in a Californium derby while also playing great defence against the opposition’s best players.

The Lakers have won three consecutive games and moved up to fifth in the Western Conference log behind the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, and the Denver Nuggets.

“I enjoyed watching my Lakers beat the Boston Celtics 117-96, led by LeBron James with 20 points and 14 rebounds and Anthony Davis’s 24 points. The key to victory was Dalton Knecht and Gabe Vincent scoring 13 points and 12 points off the bench, respectively,” the three-time NBA and finals Most Valuable Player posted on X.

Johnson, who played his entire NBA career with the Lakers after being selected first overall in the 1979 draft, has been a strong fan of the team. During his highly decorated career, Johnson won five championships with the Lakers and was previously in basketball operations at the franchise.

Gabe Vincent is known for his efficient three-point shooting and defense. This season, he is averaging 32.8% from three-point range.
