Championship outfit Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho before the January transfer window ends.

The former Manchester City and Leicester striker is reportedly available for a loan move this January after struggling to secure a starting spot at his current club, Sevilla.

According to Footballinsider, Leeds United have expressed interest in the Nigerian international, but they face stiff competition from other top-tier European clubs and Premier league teams.

Kelechi Iheanacho’s move to Sevilla from Leicester City has been underwhelming, with the Nigerian striker making only 11 appearances, including just five La Liga starts and two Copa del Rey starts, scoring three goals in the competition including a strike to seal Sevilla’s 3-1 win against UE Olot

The experienced striker has not had a significant impact since his last La Liga start on December 14th against Celta Vigo, where he was substituted off at halftime and replaced by Alvaro Pascual.

Leeds United, on the other hand, are eager to bounce back from last season’s disappointment, when they narrowly missed out on Premier League promotion after losing to Southampton in the Championship playoffs.

Sitting atop the Championship table with 53 points from 26 games, Leeds United are well-positioned for promotion, but they may require the seasoned expertise of Kelechi Iheanacho to propel them to the Premier League, given his valuable contributions to Leicester City’s title-winning campaign.
