Alex Iwobi has been named in the BBC Premier League Team of the Week, compiled by former Watford captain Troy Deeney, despite Fulham’s 3-2 defeat to West Ham.
Iwobi scored a brace in the Tuesday’s away loss to the Hammers.
Highlighting the Nigeria midfielder’s impact and why he added him, Deeney said, “He got another couple of goals and has probably been Fulham’s best player throughout. He can play numerous positions, but he has just been really, really good. He’s one of those people that we disrespect and underappreciate, but if he was in your team, you would love him to death. He’s had a really good week.”
Iwobi’s brace showcased his attacking prowess and versatility, reaffirming his importance to Marco Silva’s side.

Other players in Deeney’s Team of the Week included Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels, who made crucial saves in their 1-1 draw with Liverpool, and defenders Reece James (Chelsea), Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), and Antonee Robinson (Fulham), who provided two assists.
In midfield, Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali and West Ham’s Carlos Soler were recognised for their performances alongside Iwobi.
The forward line featured Manchester City’s Phil Foden, Manchester United’s hat-trick hero against Southampton Amad Diallo, and Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, who continued his impressive goalscoring form against Wolves.
