Alex Iwobi’s double strike was not enough to salvage a point for Fulham, as they succumbed to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of West Ham at the London Stadium on Tuesday.
West Ham hosted a high-flying Fulham team that were on an eight-match unbeaten run in the Premier League. They were also under pressure to end their three-match losing streak and revive their fortunes in the London derby against Fulham.
With newly-appointed manager Graham Potter at the helm for his first home match, West Ham burst out of the gates, taking a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Carlos Soler and Tomas Soucek.
Fulham came out strong in the second half, seeking to level the score, and their efforts paid off in the 51st minute when Alex Iwobi scored a brilliant goal to reduce the deficit.

A defensive blunder by Fulham proved costly, as Lucas Paquetá capitalized on a misplaced pass by Bernd Leno to score and restore West Ham’s two-goal cushion.
In a last-ditch effort to salvage the match, Fulham intensified their pressure and were rewarded when Robinson teed up Alex Iwobi, who scored his second goal of the game, rekindling Fulham’s hopes of a comeback.
West Ham managed to hold on and claim a vital 3-2 win, moving up to 12th place in the standings with 26 points from 21 matches. Meanwhile, Fulham remained in 9th position, having accumulated 30 points from the same number of games.
Fulham will look to bounce back from their loss when they face Leicester on Saturday. Meanwhile, West Ham will aim to maintain their momentum in another intense London derby, this time against Crystal Palace.
