Bundesliga side, Hoffenheim have agreed a deal with Olympique Lyonnais for the sale of Nigerian attacker, Gift Orban, however the move is subject to an agreement with the player.

According to Fabrizio Romano who broke the news on his official Twitter page: “Hoffenheim and Olympique Lyon have agreed on deal for Gift Orban, green light from OL to proceed. Formal steps to follow on player side to get the deal sealed.”

Gift Orban has struggled for consistent game time since moving to Lyon from Gent in 2023. The 22-year-old has only played five games this season, starting just twice in the Ligue one. As such, the move could provide the youngster with opportunities to finally showcase his talent in a competitive league.

Hoffenheim who were reported to be in advanced talks for Gift Orban prior to the transfer window will relish the chance to sign the attacker due to their poor form in front of goal.

The team has scored 20 goals in 15 Bundesliga games, the 7th worst in the division. They have also scored just five goals in six Europa league matches and they are currently one point away from the playoff spots with two matches to go.

They will be hoping to wrap up the deal as soon as possible as their rapidness with the deal indicates their belief in Gift Orban to turn around their fortunes.
