Rinsola Babajide’s effort and Gift Monday’s 90th-minute goal earned UD Tenerife Women a comeback 2-1 win over Valencia in a Spanish Premera Division encounter on Sunday.
Valencia took an early lead in the 13th minute through Yasmin Mrabet. Tenerife came back strong in the second half and a stomp on Mari Jose inside the box was awarded as a penalty. Babajide put the penalty into the back of the net, her seventh goal of the season.
Monday handed the visitors the winner in the 90th minute. The former FC Robo and Bayelsa Queens striker in a one-on-one that the Nigerian did not miss, scoring her second of the morning and her tenth goal of the season.
With 10 goals this season, Gift Monday moves to third on the top scorers chart behind Granada’s Edna Imade (11 goals) and Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor (14 goals).

Reacting to the win, Tenerife manager, Eder Maestre, says he is delighted with the performance of the team and the fact that they did not underrate their opponent.
“The assessment of the match is extremely positive, due to the result, to winning away from home and to winning by playing a good match, trusting in the plan and carrying it out in a superlative way,” Maestre said after the game.
