Nigerian Striker Cyriel Dessers, has confirmed that he will consider leaving Rangers if he continues to be denied regular playing opportunities, stressing that he wants consistent game time.

Cyriel Dessers scored his 13th goal of the season against Aberdeen in Wednesday’s 3-0 win at Ibrox, but the 30-year-old was relegated to a substitute role once more, behind in-form striker Hamza Igamane.

This season, Cyriel Dessers has made 11 league starts, but his playing time has drastically reduced since December, with only one league start against Motherwell where he was hooked off after halftime.

Cyriel Dessers expressed his frustration with losing his starting spot at Rangers in an exclusive interview with VI: “Last month, I lost my starting spot. The boy who is playing now is also a good striker, he’s scoring goals. I try to support him and help him because I want the team to win. But it is difficult,” he said.

Regarding his future, Dessers stated: “I don’t know what my outlook is now. I can imagine that Rangers might want to earn something from me now. But January is a difficult window. Clubs that are doing well probably also have a striker who is performing well. And few clubs that need goals will immediately have the millions ready. We’ll just have to wait and see.”

Dessers emphasized his desire to play regularly, saying: “I’m at a great club, but I’m 30 years old and want to play every week. Preferably at Rangers. If there are different feelings about that internally, then we need to talk.”

Cyriel Dessers has been linked to several clubs, including Saint-Etienne, Leganes, and Feyenoord, as he’s slipped down the pecking order under manager Philippe Clement, and he’s now open to exploring other opportunities.
