Victor Boniface’s proposed move to Al Nassr has fallen through after the Saudi club opted to sign Jhon Duran instead, securing his services for a whopping €77m plus add-ons.

According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, negotiations for Boniface’s transfer were well underway, with a Saudi delegation present in Germany since Monday. However, the deal ultimately stalled due to Al Nassr’s reluctance to give the green light.

Meanwhile, Al Nassr has swiftly moved on to capture Jhon Duran, with documents being prepared between the Saudi side and Aston Villa. Duran has reportedly accepted personal terms and is set to sign a long-term contract. A medical examination has also been scheduled for Thursday and upon completion, the Colombian striker will join Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

The sudden development is undoubtedly a setback for Victor Boniface, who had already agreed to join Al Nassr and had bid farewell to some friends in Germany. Nevertheless, this turn of events presents an opportunity for him to remain at Bayer Leverkusen and reclaim his spot as the team’s first choice striker.

In the wake of the news, Victor Boniface will rejoin Bayer Leverkusen’s training sessions, having missed the previous one while engaged in negotiations with the Saudi delegation.

Meanwhile, while all the talk was about Victor Boniface and Jhon Duran, Nathan Tella scored his first ever Champions league goal for Bayer Leverkusen to secure a 2-0 victory over Sparta Prague, earning automatic qualification to the round of 16.
