Tolu Arokodare will aim to net his 15th league goal of the season when Genk face Standard Liege in Matchday 26 of the Belgian Pro League on Friday.
Arokodare currently sits atop the league’s scoring chart with 14 goals from 25 matches and given his exceptional form, it is quite obvious that the prolific forward will return to the starting lineup against Standard Liege after he was rested in the previous match against Cercle Brugge.
Asides their 0-0 draw at the beginning of the season, Genk also faced Standard Liege in the Belgian Cup round of 16. In that encounter, Arokodare made a significant impact immediately he came off the bench, scoring a crucial goal and inspiring his team to a remarkable comeback victory after Genk had initially trailed courtesy of Andi Zeqiri’s strike.
With Arokodare leading the charge, Genk will be seeking to secure their 19th league win of the season against Standard Liege, a victory that would solidify their position as league leaders within the Championship playoff spots.

Standard Liege, on the other hand, will be eager to bounce back from a demoralising 4-2 defeat at the hands of Westerlo, which ended their five-match unbeaten run in the league.
Despite being the underdogs, Standard Liege will draw inspiration from their impressive home record against Genk, having remained unbeaten against them on their own turf since 2021. Additionally, the home side boast the best defensive record in the league, having kept an impressive 11 clean sheets. They will be relying on their solid defense to shut out Genk’s attacking threats.
With both Genk and Standard Liege fiercely determined to emerge victorious, the stage is now set for a thrilling encounter, promising an electrifying match that will keep fans on the edge of their seats.
