Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare extended his hot streak, scoring once again as Genk secured a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory over Standard Liege in the Belgian Cup round of 16.
The match was a tightly contested affair, with little separating the two sides. Standard Liege took the lead in the 65th minute through Andi Zeqiri, silencing the home crowd.
Arokodare, who entered the game as a substitute in the 69th minute, quickly made his impact. In the 72nd minute, he equalized, forcing the game into extra time. Patrick Hrosovsky then sealed the deal for Genk in the 115th minute.
With his 11th goal of the season, Arokodare continues to impress and attract interest from top European clubs. As the January transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen whether Genk can hold onto their star striker.
Genk’s hard-fought victory propels them into the quarterfinals of the Belgian Cup.
