Nigerian striker Akor Adams has finalized his transfer to Spanish club Sevilla from French side Montpellier after passing his medical examination.

The 24-year-old has signed a four-year contract with Sevilla and will don the number 15 jersey, previously worn by World Cup winner Gonzalo Montiel.

During his 17-month stint at Montpellier, Akor Adams made 49 appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing three assists. However, his recent poor streak in front of goal meant a transfer was necessary.

Prior to joining Montpellier, Akor Adams had a successful spell at Lillestrom where he established himself as a prolific goal-scorer, netting 28 goals and contributing four assists in 50 games for the senior team.

Akor Adams’ professional career began in Norway, where he joined Sogndal from Nigeria’s Jamba Football Academy in August 2018. He made his debut for Sogndal on August 28, 2018, and went on to score 16 goals in 56 appearances.

Despite his impressive track record, Akor Adams has experienced a recent frustrating goal-scoring drought, with his last goal coming in September in a 3-2 win over Auxerre.

Akor Adams will hence be seeking to revive his career with Sevilla, helping the Spanish side push for a top-half finish and a potential European spot.
