Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have been drawn to face Egypt, South Africa, and Morocco in Group B of the forthcoming CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast from April 26 to May 18, 2025

The draw event, attended by top CAF dignitaries took place was conducted at CAF Headquarters in Cairo on Thursday. The tournament will see a total of 13 countries compete not just for continental glory but also for one of the four slots available to Africa for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

The Flying Eagles, the continent’s most successful team in the competition’s history will be looking to claim the title for the eighth time. Nigeria last won the competition in 2015 but finished third in the 2023 edition hosted by Egypt.

Group A, hosts Ivory Coast will take on DR Congo, Ghana, Tanzania, and a second representative from the UNIFFAC region while Group C sees Senegal begin their title defence against Zambia, Kenya, and Sierra Leone.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals, along with the two best third-placed teams. From there, the tournament will proceed in a knockout format, culminating in the final on 18 May 2025.

Additionally, the four semi-finalists will book their place at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025 later this year, continuing Africa’s proud tradition of excellence on the world stage.
