Tems becomes first African woman to own a stake in MLS following San Diego FC partnership

Two-time Grammy award-winning Nigerian superstar artiste Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems has become a partner with Major League Soccer (MLS) side San Diego FC.

She becomes not only the first female Nigerian but the first female African to own a stake in a football team in the MLS. San Diego FC was founded in 2023 and competes in the MLS as a member of the Western Conference. 

Tems who became a partner with the team through her company The Leading Vibe in partnership with Pave Investments, an African private investment firm said she is excited to be part of the fold.

“I am thrilled to join San Diego FC’s ownership group and to be part of a Club that celebrates creativity, culture, and the power of community,” said SDFC Club Partner Tems

Tems is not new to sports, she performed at the 2023 NBA ALL-Star weekend alongside compatriots Burna Boy and Rema
