The Super Falcons finished the year as 36th in the FIFA Ranking released by the world football governing body on Friday.
The Falcons played three friendly matches within the ranking window, defeating Algeria 2-0 and 4-1 respectively before losing 2-1 to France in Angers.
They maintain their position as the top nation on the continent ahead of South Africa who are second and 50th in the world, up one place. Morocco are third, static at 59th while Zambia, up two places to 62nd, and Ghana, one place up to 66th, are fourth and fifth on the continent.
Globally, the United States remain in top spot to close out the year, while world champions Spain moved up one place to second. Germany climbed into the top three, displacing England, who dropped to fourth after their recent 4-3 loss to Germany in a friendly.
Sweden (5th) and Canada (6th) retained their positions, while Brazil (7th) swapped places with Japan (8th). Korea DPR (9th) stayed ahead of the Netherlands, who climbed one place to 10th, pushing France (11th) out of the top 10 for the first time in their history.
Poland (28th) recorded the biggest gain in points within the top 50, climbing four places, while Belarus (50th) made a notable five-place jump. Further down the rankings, Indonesia (97th) and Estonia (99th) broke into the top 100 with impressive gains.
Other significant movements include Zambia (62nd), who achieved their highest-ever points total of 1412.37, alongside Bangladesh (132nd) and Saudi Arabia (166th), who continue their upward trajectory. Northern Ireland (44th) and Cabo Verde (129th) also climbed one place each to end the year on a positive note.
The next FIFA Women’s Ranking will be released on March 15, 2024.
