Nigeria’s Super Falcons suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Brazil in their opening match of the Paris 2024 Olympics on Thursday.
Gabi Nunes’ 37th-minute strike proved decisive, leaving the Falcons at the bottom of Group C.
Despite a determined second-half push, the Super Falcons were unable to find an equalizer. Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie made five crucial saves to keep the scoreline respectable.
Spain’s 2-1 victory over Japan earlier in the day sets a challenging path for Nigeria, who face the World Champions in their next match on Sunday.
