Nigeria’s Chiamaka Okwuchukwu has been named among the top 30 candidates for the 2024 International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) Women’s World Best Youth Player award.
Okwuchukwu, who plays for Port Harcourt-based Rivers Angels was part of Nigeria’s Falconets squad at the 2024 U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

She played a key role despite the team exiting in the round of 16, scoring two goals and providing an assist during the tournament.
Chiamaka Okwuchukwu joins a prestigious list of nominees, including players from around the world such as Linda Caicedo of Real Madrid, Brazil’s Aline Gomes, and Japan’s Aoba Fujino.
The IFFHS award, which recognizes the top youth players born after January 1, 2004, seeks to honor the next generation of football stars. Okwuchukwu’s nomination highlights her rising profile in the sport.
She is the only Nigerian on the list and will be vying to succeed Spain’s Salma Paralluelo, who won the 2023 award.
