Victor Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, has vehemently denied reports suggesting the Napoli striker could be loaned to Chelsea as part of a deal for Romelu Lukaku.

The Napoli striker’s representative dismissed the speculation as “fake news,” emphasizing Osimhen’s status as a key player for the Partenopei. Journalist David Ornstein reported that the two clubs were in discussions for a potential swap involving the Belgian forward Lukaku.

“Napoli in ongoing talks with Chelsea to sign Romelu Lukaku while discussions between #SSCNapoli & #CFC also taking place about a move for Victor Osimhen in opposite direction. Lukaku would be permanent, Osimhen season-long loan + buy option.”

However, Calenda dismissed the speculation, describing it as “fake news.” “I read about ‘fantasy exchanges’ with Victor… as if he was a package to be delivered quickly,” the Italian football agent was quoted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in a Tweet.

“This package is the top scorer of the third Scudetto in the history of Napoli. Respect and stop fake news!”.

Chelsea’s initial interest in Osimhen was cooled by the high asking price, but with Lukaku potentially heading to Napoli, a revival of their pursuit cannot be ruled out.

The Nigerian forward has been training separately from his Napoli teammates amid the transfer speculation. Osimhen has scored 76 goals in 133 appearances for Napoli since joining from Lille in 2020.
