Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored his first goals for Galatasaray, netting a brace in their 3-3 draw with Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday.
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray from Napoli last month, had yet to score in his first three games, though he had provided three assists.
However, he opened his account in the 20th minute, connecting with a cross from Abdülkerim Bardakcı.
Eight minutes later, Osimhen latched onto a long ball from Gabriel Sara, making it 2-0 for Galatasaray and securing his brace.
Mauro Icardi added a third in the 34th minute, seemingly setting Galatasaray on course for their seventh consecutive win this season.
Kasimpasa, however, began their comeback just before halftime. Mamadou Fall pulled one back in the 44th minute, making it 3-1 as both sides went into the break.
Osimhen did not return for the second half, as he was replaced by Dries Mertens in what seems to be an injury precaution, ending his hopes for a hat-trick.
Kasimpasa mounted a stunning comeback, scoring two late goals to earn a draw. Haris Hajradinović converted a penalty in the 83rd minute after a VAR review awarded Kasimpasa a spot-kick, while Nuno da Costa equalized in the fifth minute of added time, denying Galatasaray a victory.
Despite the draw, Galatasaray remain top of the Turkish Super Lig with 19 points, four points ahead of second-placed Samsunspor. Fenerbahçe, currently third with 13 points, can climb to second if they win their match against Antalyaspor tomorrow. Meanwhile, Besiktas and İstanbul Başakşehir, both with outstanding games, are also tied on 13 points.
Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo came in a 30th minute substitute for Kasimpasa in the game.
