Head coach Bankole Olowookere has named a 20-player squad for the Nigeria U17 girls’ team, Flamingos, ahead of the WAFU B U17 Girls’ Cup, which kicks off Thursday in Ghana.
The list includes FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup scorers Shakirat Moshood and Harmony Chidi, alongside key players like goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma, defenders Taiwo Adegoke and Ayomide Ibrahim, midfielder Faridat Abdulwahab, and forwards Peace Effiong and Mary Lucky Nkpa.
The Flamingos are drawn in Group B alongside Niger Republic and Côte d’Ivoire, while hosts Ghana will face Benin Republic in Group A following the withdrawals of Burkina Faso and Togo.
Nigeria’s U17 girls head into the regional competition after an impressive outing at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic, where they scored nine goals in the group stage before being eliminated by the United States in the quarterfinals.
