Nigeria forward Anthony Nwakaeme is set to undergo specialized training focusing on endurance, strength, and match tempo ahead of Trabzonspor’s away clash against Galatasaray on Monday, December 16th.
Nwakaeme, who recently returned from a groin injury, made an instant impact after being substituted on in the 46th minute of Trabzonspor’s 2-2 draw with Kasimpasa. Not only did he score his first goal of the season, but his presence also significantly improved the team’s overall performance.
Trabzonspor manager Şenol Güneş is reportedly considering rewarding Nwakaeme’s impressive display with a starting role against Galatasaray.
This decision is further supported by Nwakaeme’s strong record against the Turkish champions, where he has tallied three goals and two assists in eight league appearances, contributing to three wins, three draws, and just two losses for his side.
In a private meeting with Şenol Güneş, Nwakaeme reportedly expressed his readiness to start the match. Since rejoining Trabzonspor this summer following a two-season stint in Saudi Arabia, the one-cap Super Eagles forward has struggled with injuries, including calf, muscle, and groin issues.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray will be without their star striker Victor Osimhen, who suffered a hamstring injury during their 3-1 victory over Sivasspor last weekend. Osimhen has been instrumental for Galatasaray this season, registering 10 goals and five assists in 13 appearances across all competitions.
