Shooting Stars will be seeking to end their 3-game winless streak in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) when they face Enyimba at the Enyimba Stadium on Wednesday.

After an impressive 8-game unbeaten run, “The Oluyole Warriors” have experienced a decline in form, losing to Kwara United and Heartland United, and drawing with 10-man Lobi Stars at the Lekan Salami Stadium in their previous game.

Perhaps a key factor contributing to Shooting Stars’ recent struggles is their inability to maintain clean sheets, conceding six goals in their last three games, in stark contrast to their strong defensive form during their 8-game unbeaten run where they conceded only once with goalkeeper, Mustapha Lawal on the form of his life.

Nonetheless, the upcoming match against Enyimba, who have struggled to score goals, presents an opportunity for Shooting Stars to regain their form and secure a much-needed win, despite their concerning away form this season, winning only two away games and losing eight in 12 attempts.

On the other hand, Enyimba are desperate to bounce back from a slump, having secured only one win in their last four games, including losses to Akwa United, Bendel Insurance, and Katsina United.

“The People’s Elephants” can draw confidence from their unbeaten home record this season, with six wins and six draws in 12 games at the Enyimba stadium. The two teams previously played to a 0-0 draw at the Lekan Salami Stadium, but both sides will aim to deliver a more exciting match with the stakes higher.

With 41 points, Shooting Stars face an uphill battle to catch up with league leaders Remo Stars, but they remain in strong contention for a top-four finish. Meanwhile, a win for Enyimba could be crucial in their pursuit of continental football, as they currently trail fourth place by five points.
