The Ikenne-based side dominated the first half, with Peter Onuoha opening the scoring in the 31st minute. Franck Mawuena extended their lead just before halftime, effectively sealing the deal. This victory marked a crucial rebound for Remo Stars after their recent defeat to Niger Tornadoes.
With this win, Remo Stars and Rivers United are now tied on 29 points, but Remo Stars hold a slight advantage in goal difference.
The race for the NPFL title is shaping up to be a thrilling three-horse race, with Enugu Rangers also remaining a strong contender.
In other matches, Plateau United and Heartland engaged in a thrilling encounter that ended 3-2 in favor of the home side. Sunday Anthony scored twice for Plateau United, while Tobe Ige Iyanda netted a brace for Heartland. However, a late goal from Pam Mefang secured a crucial victory for Plateau United.
Kano Pillars maintained their strong form with a 1-0 win over local rivals Katsina United. Abia Warriors also secured a 2-1 victory over Niger Tornadoes.
Ikorodu City, who had been on an impressive unbeaten run, suffered their first defeat of the season. Rabiu Abdullahi’s 79th-minute goal was enough to give the visitors a 1-0 win.
