The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title race has intensified as Remo Stars reclaimed the top spot with a decisive 2-0 victory over El Kanemi Warriors. This win, coupled with Rivers United’s 1-0 loss to defending champions Enugu Rangers, propelled Remo Stars to the summit of the table.
The Ikenne-based side dominated the first half, with Peter Onuoha opening the scoring in the 31st minute. Franck Mawuena extended their lead just before halftime, effectively sealing the deal. This victory marked a crucial rebound for Remo Stars after their recent defeat to Niger Tornadoes.
With this win, Remo Stars and Rivers United are now tied on 29 points, but Remo Stars hold a slight advantage in goal difference.
The race for the NPFL title is shaping up to be a thrilling three-horse race, with Enugu Rangers also remaining a strong contender.
