In a thrilling return, Ayo Dosunmu overcame a quad injury to contribute in the Chicago Bulls’ 131-116 victory over the Atlanta Hawks in the first game of the NBA play-in tournament. The win sets up a showdown with the Miami Heat.

Dosunmu, who missed the Bulls’ recent stretch, was thrust back into the starting lineup for this crucial matchup. The 24-year-old played a key role with 19 points, 3 assists, 2 blocks, and a rebound, helping propel his team to victory and eliminating the Hawks from playoff contention.

Coby White led the scoring charge with a game-high 42 points, adding 9 rebounds and 6 assists. DeMar DeRozan also chipped in a well-rounded performance with 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists.

Despite the win, Dosunmu acknowledged battling pain throughout the game. “It was tough getting to full speed, but I kept believing and found ways to attack,” he said. “Missed some bunnies I normally make, but this time of year everyone’s banged up. Just happy to get the win.”

The Bulls now turn their attention to revenge against the Miami Heat, who knocked them out of the playoffs last season with a 103-92 victory. This next game holds immense weight, as a win secures a coveted playoff spot for Chicago.
