In a pulsating encounter that looked set for a stalemate at Bergamo, Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman emerged as a hero for Atalanta, scoring a breathtaking goal in the dying minutes of the game to seal a thrilling victory over AC Milan.

Atalanta tactician, Gian Piero Gasperini could not be on the touchline following a two-match suspension, however, assistant manager, Tullio Gritti took over the helm of affairs as Atalanta sought to maintain their 13 match unbeaten run in all competitions.

The home side took the lead early in the game as Martin De Roon delivered a precise free kick into the box for in-form attacker, Charles De Ketelaere to convert with a close-range header into the back of the net.

AC Milan equalised 10 minutes later as Rafael Leao picked out Alvaro Morata with a low cross for the Spanish striker to sweep the ball home for 1-1.

With the game set for a draw, Ademola Lookman got into clutch mode as an inswinging corner was flicked on by Kolasinac to the near post where the Nigerian gratefully stooped to head the ball inside the far post to the despair of Mike Maignan and the Milan faithful.

The goal was Lookman’s eight goal in the league, just three behind his total goal tally last season. He has also now recorded 10 goals in all competitions. Atalanta are now on a 9-game winning streak and they are unbeaten in 14 matches in all competitions.

They host Champions League holders, Real Madrid next as they aim to add more misery to the Spanish side who have been surprisingly out of form in recent weeks.
