Ademola Lookman provided a crucial late assist as Atalanta came from behind to draw 1-1 with Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico, canceling out Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s opener for the hosts.
Dele-Bashiru gave Lazio the lead in the first half, reacting quickest to Nicolò Rovella’s lofted pass and firing past Marco Carnesecchi.
Atalanta, who were missing key players Mateo Retegui, Gianluca Scamacca, and Matteo Ruggeri, struggled to break down Lazio’s defense for much of the game.
Lazio dominated early exchanges, with Taty Castellanos forcing two sharp saves from Carnesecchi and Matteo Guendouzi hitting the post. Atalanta’s Davide Zappacosta also came close with a volley that flew just wide.

After going behind, Atalanta pressed for an equalizer, but their finishing let them down. Juan Cuadrado and Ademola Lookman both missed headed chances, while Lookman saw a powerful shot tipped wide by Ivan Provedel. Lazio, on the other hand, failed to capitalize on their counter-attacks, with Boulaye Dia unable to connect with a low cross from Castellanos.
The breakthrough for Atalanta came in the 88th minute. Nicolò Zaniolo flicked the ball to Lookman at the far post, and the Nigerian forward unselfishly squared it for substitute Marco Brescianini to tap in from close range. The goal was confirmed after a quick VAR check for offside, ensuring Atalanta secured a vital point.
The draw extends Atalanta’s unbeaten run in Serie A, keeping them on top of the table as they prepare for the Supercoppa Italiana clash with Inter on January 2.
