Applebee FC and 30BG SC have both advanced into the semifinal of the ongoing Lagos Liga after their quarterfinal wins at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan on Friday.
Applebee FC stormed into the semifinals with a resounding victory over Mavebrooks FC, unleashing a four-goal barrage in the second half, leaving Mavebrooks, coached by Nigerian Beach Soccer legend Abu Azeez, in their wake.
The match, the opening fixture at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, saw a cautious start. Applebee, favored to win, enjoyed early possession but were denied the lead by the woodwork in the 16th minute.
The second half witnessed a transformation in Applebee’s performance. David Onuche ignited the scoring with a stunning 20-yard strike. Favour Aneke doubled the lead after a series of impressive passes. Famous Mouri and Badejo then added two quick goals, effectively sealing Mavebrooks’ fate.

In the second quarterfinal, 30BG SC staged a brilliant comeback to defeat Jarus FC 2-1 and secure their semifinal berth. Despite an early setback, the club owned by Nigerian music superstar Davido kept their championship aspirations alive.
Jarus FC, against the run of play, took the lead in the 12th minute. 30BG SC, despite their efforts, struggled to find an equalizer against a resolute Jarus FC defense. However, they emerged from halftime with renewed energy and found the equalizer they deserved.
Determined to secure the win, 30BG SC pushed forward and were rewarded with the winning goal from Yisa Toheeb, solidifying their place in the semifinals. They will face the winner of the Primal Sporting vs. Golden Alchemy FC (Abuja) match.
The introduction of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) proved crucial throughout the day, assisting the referees in making accurate decisions.
