Cricket: Junior Female Yellow Greens set sights on World Cup

Nigeria’s Junior Female Yellow Greens have continued their preparations ahead of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia where they aim to compete and make the Nation proud.

The team qualified for the global tournament by winning the Africa Qualifier Division 1 title in Kigali, Rwanda, in September and they will be hoping to make history in Malaysia where the World Cup will be hosted from January 18 – February 2, 2025.

According to the NCF, prior to the tournament, the team will play two warm up matches against Pakistan and Scotland on January 13 and January 15 respectively.

They will then begin their journey at the World Cup by facing Samoa on January 18 before battling against New Zealand on January 20 and South Africa on January 22.

In the previous and first edition of the tournament which was held in South Africa from January 14 – January 29, 2023, India beat England by 7 wickets to become the inaugural champions.

Led by Kenyan coach Sarah Bakhita and assisted by former Yellow Greens captain Blessing Etim, the team is equipped with experienced experts who can guide them through the tournament.
