Super Eagles duo Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi impressed for Fulham, who pulled off an incredible 2-1 comeback win over neighbors Chelsea at Stamford Bridge handing the Blues their first loss since October 20.

Cole Palmer gave the Blues the lead in the 16th minute with a well-taken shot, after dribbling past the Fulham defense before drilling the ball past Bernd Leno. The Cottagers were the more dangerous side and got their deserved equaliser in the 82nd minute through super sub Harry Wilson with a close header while Rodrigo Muniz grabbed the winner in the 95th minute.

The win marks Fulham’s first victory at Stamford Bridge since 1979.

Bassey was in action for the entire duration of the game, putting up a solid defensive display, and nullifying Petro Neto’s right-wing threat. He was awarded a 7.4/10 rating, the fifth-highest rating for a Fulham player.

The center-back was unlucky not to have grabbed Fulham’s equalizer. He took the ball from inside his own half, marauding his way through the Chelsea defense before firing a low shot which was well saved by Robert Sánchez.

Iwobi on the other hand put in a huge shift both defensively and offensively from the left wing. The Nigeria international had an overall rating of 7.6/10 and was taken off in the 90th minute and replaced by Ryan Sessegnon.

Reacting to the victory, manager Marco Silva said it was a well-deserved three points and he is delighted with his side’s unbeaten run against some of the league’s big boys.

“I really believe that we deserved the three points against a tough side,” Marco said after the victory. “The way we built from the back was difficult for them to press, I think we beat their first pressure almost always.”

“It’s been great. From the beginning of December, we played away from home against Tottenham, against Liverpool, now against Chelsea. We played against Arsenal at home and our unbeaten run keeps going which of course was the aim for us.”
