Ikorodu City put on a second-half masterclass, scoring three goals against visiting Niger Tornadoes to claim their 15th win of the season. Goals from super substitute Ayomide Cole and Shola Adelani sealed a commanding 3-0 victory, lifting the Oga Boys into fourth place—just one point off the top three.

Before kickoff, both teams observed a minute’s silence in honour of former Super Eagles captain and coach, Christian Chukwu, who passed away on Saturday, April 12.

The match sprang into life with Ikorodu City dominating possession and creating the better chances, but Tornadoes held firm with a disciplined defensive display despite relentless pressure.

Seeking a breakthrough, Ikorodu City head coach Nurudeen Aweroro introduced Ayomide Cole and Chineme Chinonso at halftime to inject fresh energy into the attack.

The changes paid dividends when Cole broke the deadlock in the 70th minute with a composed finish. Shola Adelani doubled the lead in the 83rd minute, leaving the Tornadoes’ goalkeeper rooted to the spot. Cole capped off the night with his brace in stoppage time, scoring the third goal in the 93rd minute.

Reacting to the result, Coach Aweroro expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and praised their patience and discipline.

“We are delighted with the win. It wasn’t an easy game—our opponents were very good—but we stuck to our plan, remained patient, and it paid off in the end.”

Adelani’s goal marked Ikorodu City’s 50th of the season, while Cole’s late strike brought their tally to 51.
