Odion Ighalo continued his scoring streak, netting in his second consecutive game, as Al-Wehda edged out Al Fateh FC 2-1 in a thrilling match at the Al Fateh club stadium on Thursday.

After suffering back-to-back losses to Al Akhdoud and Al Ahli, Al-Wehda desperately needed a win to gain momentum in their fight against relegation.

Al-Wehda burst out of the gates, taking a 2-0 lead within the first 26 minutes, courtesy of Craig Goodwin’s 14th-minute strike and Odion Ighalo’s goal 12 minutes later.

Al Fateh FC attempted a late resurgence, with Sofiane Bendebka scoring in the 57th minute to restore hopes of a comeback, but Abdullah Al-Oaisher’s heroic display, making nine crucial saves, ensured Al-Wehda held on for a vital 2-1 win.

With three league goals, Odion Ighalo has become Al-Wehda’s joint top scorer, playing a crucial role in the team’s bid to avoid relegation and secure safety.

The victory propels Al Wehda to 16th place with 12 points from 14 matches. They’ll aim to sustain their momentum when they host 4th-placed Al Qadasiya in their next fixture.
