Nigeria’s Efe Ajagba’s IBF heavyweight world title eliminator fight against hard-hitting Congolese star Martin Bakole has been set for May 2025 in the United States.

Both Africa heavyweight stars are billed to fight for the opportunity to fight for the IBF heavyweight world title currently held by British boxer Daniel Dubois who knocked out Anthony Joshua in the fifth round of a scheduled 12-round bout in front of a packed Wembley Stadium to retain the title.

Bakole (22-21-1) is unbeaten in his last 10 professional fights since suffering his sole career loss to Michael Hunter in 2018. Since his loss, Bakole has gone on to defeat top fighters such as Tony Yoka, Carlos Take and Jared Anderson.

Ajagba on the other hand has won five straight fights since losing his only professional fight to Cuban Frank Sanchez in 2021. He currently holds the WBC Silver heavyweight title. Ajagba most recently defeated Guido Vianello, an Italian Olympian.

Bakole, a consistently high-ranked contender, is determined to secure a world title shot against Dubois. The IBF has mandated that Ajagba, the next in line, face Bakole in an eliminator bout.

Dubois, who sensationally knocked out Anthony Joshua last year, will defend his title on February 22nd against the formidable Joseph Parker, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

The highly anticipated Bakole vs. Ajagba showdown is scheduled for May in the United States, orchestrated by influential boxing figure Turki Alalshikh.
