Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has confirmed that Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman is fit and available for their Champions League second leg playoff clash against Club Brugge on Tuesday.

Ademola Lookman’s injury had a significant impact on Atalanta’s performance, with the team managing only one win in six matches without him. His last appearance was in Atalanta’s 2-1 win over Como before he got injured prior to their Champions League clash against Barcelona.

Atalanta face a tough task in overturning a 2-1 deficit from the first leg against Club Brugge. Goals from Ferrán Jutglà and Gustaf Nilsson gave Club Brugge the advantage, and Atalanta must complete a comeback to qualify for the Round of 16.

Speaking with the press ahead of the crucial match, Gian Piero Gasperini provided an update on the fitness of two key players: “Lookman and Nikolas Kolasinac have recovered, they have trained with the team, and therefore they’ve been called up and will be available,” he said.

Gasperini emphasized the importance of having Lookman and Kolasinac back: “It’s a positive compared to the last few weeks.” Their return is a timely boost for Atalanta, who will rely on their home crowd to help overturn the deficit.

Despite Atalanta’s average home record in the Champions League this season, with only one win, they will be counting on their fans to make a difference. However, they will face a tough opponent in Club Brugge, who have Raphael Onyedika, a fellow Nigerian and ever-present defensive midfielder, standing in their way.
