Gabe Vincent delivered a Los Angeles Lakers career-high 24 points, but it wasn’t enough as they fell 111-108 to the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center.

The shorthanded Lakers were without three key frontcourt starters—LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, and Jaxson Hayes—creating an opportunity for Vincent to make his first start for the franchise alongside newly acquired Alex Len and rookie Dalton Knecht.

Vincent scored a game-high 24 points, shooting an impressive 8-of-12 from the field and 6-of-9 from beyond the arc, while also adding three assists. All-Star guard Luka Dončić recorded a triple-double with 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists, but his efforts weren’t enough to carry the Lakers past the Nets in LeBron’s absence.

Gabe Vincent has emerged as one of the Lakers’ most reliable role players in recent weeks, contributing solidly on both ends of the floor since the turn of the year. Vincent was 5-of-5 in his first attempts from threes.

Noah Conway led the Nets with a team-high 19 points, while Cameron Johnson and Keon Johnson added 18 points each to help secure the win.

The Lakers will look to bounce back from the loss when they face the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night at Fiserv Forum.
