Ademola Lookman has been named the Europa League’s Player of the Week following his outstanding performance that led Atalanta to victory in the final against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday.

Lookman made history by becoming the first player to score a hat-trick in the Europa League final. His impressive performance also ended Leverkusen’s 51-game unbeaten run in all competitions this season.

Lookman beat out his teammates Ederson and Davide Zapacosta for the award, although it was never in doubt.

However, he was not in contention for the Europa League Player of the Season award, which went to Olympique Marseille’s striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

The former Arsenal striker emerged as the best player in the competition, finishing with 10 goals and three assists in 13 games.

He also won the top scorer award and was instrumental in Marseille’s run to the semi-finals. With 34 goals in the competition, Aubameyang has surpassed Radamel Falcao’s record of 30 goals, becoming the top scorer in the competition’s history.
