Europa League: Bright Osayi-Samuel sees red in Fenerbahce victory

Nigerian winger Bright Osayi-Samuel was sent off in Fenerbahce’s 2-1 UEFA Europa League win over Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday.

The former Queens Park Rangers player, who recently returned from injury, was introduced as a substitute in the 65th minute. However, his debut for the Turkish club was cut short after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession (87th and 90th minutes).

Bright Osayi-Samuel’s dismissal means he will miss Fenerbahce’s upcoming match against FC Twente. It is also the first red card of his Feneberhce career.

The game also saw Union Saint-Gilloise finish with 10 men, as Kevin Mac Allister was sent off for a straight red card.

Fenerbahce’s goals came from Çağlar Söyüncü and an own goal by Christian Burgess, while Union Saint-Gilloise’s consolation was scored by Ross Sykes in the closing stages.

Osayi-Samuel joins a list of players who have been sent off in the Europa League, including Nilson Angulo (Anderlecht), Kevin Mac Allister (Union Saint-Gilloise), Isak Määttä (Bodø/Glimt), Rasmus Holmén (IF Elfsborg), Maksym Braharu (Dynamo Kyiv), Radu Dragusin (Tottenham), and Tijjani Noslin (Lazio).
