Enyimba’s chances of advancing to the knockout phase of the CAF Confederation Cup suffered a significant blow on Sunday as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Mozambique’s Black Bulls at the Estadio do Zimpeto in Marracuene.

The People’s Elephants, aiming to recover from earlier defeat to Al Masry and a home draw against Zamalek, struggled once again, falling short against a determined Black Bulls side that dominated across all aspects of the game.

Black Bulls opened the scoring in the 16th minute through Nigerian midfielder Rume Akporoh. Right-back Fidel Sousa doubled their advantage in the 57th minute, and Nigerian striker Ayuba Francis Abubakar sealed the victory with a third goal in the 64th minute, securing Black Bulls’ first win of the group stage.

Enyimba remain rooted at the bottom of Group D with just one point from three matches, having lost two and drawn one. Their lackluster form casts serious doubt on their ability to progress beyond the group stage.

Despite making 20 clearances, five interceptions, and four blocked shots, Enyimba struggled offensively. They managed 15 attempts on goal but only hit the target twice, with both efforts comfortably saved. In contrast, Black Bulls converted all their shots on target into goals, showcasing superior clinical finishing.

To stand any chance of reaching the Round of 16, Enyimba must win their remaining three group matches and rely on favorable results in other fixtures within the group.
